Bond Is Better When He Is...
Serious, funny or a little bit of both? Do you like it better when it is a more serious film or comedy? How do you like your Bond?

I would have said both, but Casino Royale's seriousness did it for me.
Then again, Craig had his comedic moments... We'll see how Bond 22 turns out!

A good mix
I quite agree! Casino Royale was the perfect mixture of serious intent... and black humor! Don't you think... Bond's always had humor and always had moments of vengeance! Casino Royale moulded this perfectly

I said funny, but in retrospect I should have said both
But i tend to enjoy a Bond film that has good quality humour (like TSWLM or Gf IMO) more than a serious Bond. Funniest bits of Casino Royale for me were the Vodka Martini (do I look like I give a damn) and the last hand nearly killing him I think they tend to be more enjoyable for a broader range of people when they're humorous- you've got to admit, you could sit and watch much of the Brosnan and Moore films and all generations would be satisfied, whereas Casino Royale is bound to make uneasy viewing for those a lot older or younger (and men who will wince when the balls and hit!)

I think Bond himself is the key ingredient of the films: the combination of the larger-than-life and his stereotypically British response. When faced with larger-than-life gadgets, villains and situations, he must take all of this in his stride, keep calm and carry on, and, no matter how difficult the situation is, he must not only pull through but ultimately come out on top |
