Live And Let Die Named Best James Bond Movie Theme
Once again the Mc Cartney & Wings Bond theme song ranks NO#1 again....It was almost a year ago it ranked NO #1 in this poll last year also>>>http://www.bondmovies.com/board/showthread.php?t=15614
http://www.kbsradio.ca/news/music/87/902255 Paul McCartney and Wings'1973 theme to Live And Let Die has been named the top James Bond movie theme, according to clickliverpool.com. A poll conducted by HMV music stores and the social networking site getcloser.com showed that the tune, which was written by Paul and Linda McCartney in 1972, snagged 23 percent of all the votes. Shirley Bassey's theme to 1964's Goldfinger came in second, with her 1971 theme to Diamonds Are Forever following in third place. The Top Ten James Bond movie themes (according to HMV and getcloser.com): 1. "Live And Let Die" (Live And Let Die; 1973) -- Paul McCartney and Wings 2. "Goldfinger" (Goldfinger; 1964) -- Shirley Bassey 3. "Diamonds Are Forever" (Diamonds Are Forever; 1971) -- Shirley Bassey 4. "Nobody Does It Better" (The Spy Who Loved Me; 1977) -- Carly Simon 5. "James Bond Theme (Dr. No version)" (Dr. No; 1962) -- John Barry Seven and Orchestra 6. "We Have All The Time In The World" (On Her Majesty's Secret Service; 1969) -- Louis Armstrong 7. "GoldenEye" (GoldenEye; 1995) -- Tina Turner 8. "A View To A Kill" (A View To A Kill; 1985) -- Duran Duran 9. "The Living Daylights (The Living Daylights; 1997) -- A-Ha 10. "James Bond Theme" (Bond opening credits for all movies) -- John Arnold Wings co-founder and original drummer Denny Seiwell recalls the events leading up to McCartney recording the Oscar-nominated theme to Live And Let Die: "Everybody thought it was cool that we were doing something for James Bond, you know? 'Cause I remember what Paul told us -- he said a couple weeks before we did the actual recording, he said they wanted him to write the theme to the next James Bond movie, and they sent him the book to read. And we were up at the house one day and he had just read the book the night before, and he sat down at the piano and said, 'James Bond. . . James Bond . . . da-da-dum!', and he started screwing around at the piano. Within 10 minutes, he had that song written. It was awesome, really. Just to watch him get in there and write the song was really something I'll remember the rest of my life."

If you asked me who would have won this poll before I even saw it I would have gone with McCartney. He's a Beatle! Anything he touches turns out to be a classic!

I would've said License to Kill instead of Living Daylights, but that's my personal taste. Besides that, I can pretty much agree with the list

Meh... seems like the stereotypical Bond theme list. Not sure I can agree with it all. LALD is a wonderful theme, I just don't think that it should be ranked number one.

Goldfinger is my personal favorite but Live and Let Die is definetly great. I also loved George Harrison's score for LALD. He's the only one outside Barry to ever get the Bond sound correct.
