The Dark Knight RISES July 20th, 2012

Christopher Nolan announced that his third installment for the Batman movie franchise will be tiltled "The Dark Knight Rises".

He also noted that there will NOT be a Riddler, and it will NOT be shot in 3D.

No plot details or casting rumors have been confirmed, although Christian Bale and Michael Caine are both on board to reprise their roles as Bruce Wayne and Alfred Pennyworth.

So what does everyone think of the title? And where would you like to see this movie go?

Nolan is doing everything right here with this. He gives us a title that is simple and could mean ANYTHING and also lays to rest all rumors of Riddler as the bad guy, which have been running rampant since The Dark Knight first came out! Plus, keeping it simple and traditional by not shooting in 3D is a great touch. Well done, Chris!

Can't wait to hear more about it!

I don't get why people are so eager to see The Riddler making a comeback, anyway. He belongs in the Joel Schumacher era.

I heard somewhere he said there was no Freeze and Riddler or Penguin, some say it's Catwoman I don't know?

I want the Scarecrow. Cillian Murphy was the second best thing in the two previous movies.

He was great! What they did with his character (which was NOTHING) was the bad thing about it. Definitely didn't use it to his full potential...

I hear Nolan was keeping things realistic. Meaning no Clayface, Poison Ivy, Man-Bat etc. So no villains created by falling into a vat of toxic acid or something supernatural.

Another thing I'm interested in seeing is the Batmobile. I hope they make a more roadster or hot rod Batmobile. It's supposed to have the power and weaponry of a tank, it's not supposed to be an ACTUAL TANK.

There's a rumor floating around that they're considering a Joker cameo. Although Nolan told the press that he could never replace Heath Ledger, many still believe it's a possibility. They say it would possibly be done with CGI.

In my opinion, the only way this could ever work is if we don't see the Joker's face, and a decent voice-double is brought in. For instance, Batman could be talking to Joker in an Arkham cell, where Joker is sitting in the shadows so we couldn't see his face. OR it would be a brief mention, I.E. Gordon says something like: "We've got Joker locked up in solitary back at Arkham, and he's still not talking." I've always thought they could bring Harley Quinn (my vote is Anne Hathaway) by going, of course, with the route of her being the Arkham doctor who falls "madly" in love with the Joker, and he puts her out on the streets to do his dirty deeds.
Just an idea.

If anything is done to do a cameo, I would be sure that it would be a very brief spot. And Ledger's family would probably be asked for consent.

What do you guys think?

Update: Nolan said in an interview that he will NOT used unused footage in efforts to resurect the Joker... which still says nothing about a cameo.

He also says that Inception-alumni Tom Hardy has a definate role in this film.

The script is due to Warner Bros. by January, and he's writing it with his brother, Jonathan. They're also writing the next (untitled) Superman movie, which will be directed by Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen)

Nolan claims this is his last in this 3 movie trilogy, what's gonna happen with this series after that ? will someone try and carry it on or will it be dead untill another Batman series begins by someone ?

I'm sure someone will continue it. Another reboot would hardly make sense since this saga had such success. (Alliteration!) I'd have no idea who could possibley fill Nolan's shoes anyway...
