Javier Bardem Banned from smoking on SKYFALL set

JAVIER Bardem has been banned from smoking while making the new James Bond film because of fears it could set an expensive film set alight.

Bosses have warned the actor, who plays the villain Silva in Skyfall, about flicking ash near a replica country house made of plaster and wood.

The enormous piece of scenery has been built on location in rural Surrey, with plans to blow it to pieces as part of the plot.


It took props specialists months to painstakingly construct the fake lodge.

They have only one shot at destroying the work of art for the movie and production staff are concerned Javier's fag habit could spark a premature end to their expensive prop.

A source said: "Javier loves his cigarettes and is always smoking on set to pass the time.

"The Skyfall lodge has been built in a field with some pretty dry grass, though.

"It wouldn't take much for one of his butts to catch alight.

"They've had a word with him and he keeps well away now when on a smoke break."
