First Impressions, Second Chances
I would like your opinion on my post. First of all, I am Robert. known to you as UWF97Nole. Ask me and I'll tell you what the handle means if you don't know.
![]() First off I want to say, I saw Casino Royale (2006) again yesterday. I didn't remember it overly well, and I have to say I was even more impressed than I was the first time I watched it. And I have to say that Daniel Craig gives new meaning to intense and high-strung as Bond. I think he did a phenom job in the role. That said, my questions are regarding Quantam of Solace, so I'm kinda thinking out loud here. I had watched QOS and thought it was 'darker' than any other Bond I had watched and Bond seemed much more calculating and even cold. Like he did not care about anything. But, after watching CR again, I think I know why now. Let me explain. The love Bond had for Vesper was deep. And, he even resigned his Mi6 status for her. I watched QOS without thinking of this, and now I know why he was so cold, so calculating. So, without emotion. I think he was so in love with Vesper that he just won't allow anyone that close to him again. Its his protection, per se. I don't know if this is right or spot on, but it seems to make sense. Bond, is very good at what he does. He is a spy, a killer if need be, a person not to be messed with unless you want to get messed up. So, I think I need to give QOS o Second Chance, because I think I understand now why he is so cold. Its his defence as to not get hurt emotionally again. |

I think you've got a point on QoS' darker tone, but from the perspective of the audience I feel it strayed too much into the darkness. I'm hoping that, as the real world is a bit dark at the moment already, they need to lighten things up a bit to cheer the public up- they need it!

I think Bond himself is the key ingredient of the films: the combination of the larger-than-life and his stereotypically British response. When faced with larger-than-life gadgets, villains and situations, he must take all of this in his stride, keep calm and carry on, and, no matter how difficult the situation is, he must not only pull through but ultimately come out on top |

Quantum was darker than most Bond films, but Liscense to Kill was far darker. Many others had some dark moments. Welcome to the board Nole!

I will go and watch License to Kill again
I have them all on DVD. I will have to say I really like Craig in the role, I think he must be the best in shape of any of the Bond actors. I mean the guy is in totally awesome shape.
Thanks for the welcomes. :-) I have always been a big fan, and glad I found this site. :-) |
