Movies should be more like the books... - Page 2

Well that's the problem that Bond fans may be facing shortly. Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson talked about how Bond has to stay true to Fleming's version of him. But nowadays with MGM wanting turn 007 in a complete 360, we'll probably lose more and more sight of the edge that Bond had in it's early years and especially what he had in the novels.

Poor Ian. I'm sure he was rolling in his grave when DAD came out.

I definately think that when they make Casino Royale, it should be as close to the novel as possible. Thats all I have to say about that.

If they make the movie, I will be happy. Even if they don't have it word for word dialogue, it would take a pretty untalented actor to screw up Casino Royale (if it is indeed closer to the novel than the older one)

That's the problem. From the looks of things, they want to use the title but throw the rest of the novel away. If they do that I might just boycott the movie because why would anyone in their right mind not use such a brilliant plot and characters?

I think (please don't hurt me) they should start using the Gardner or Benson books if they don't use Casino Royale.

they are lost forever in the gardens of evil, and that garden is invested with garden snakes, so they have to keep that garden a secret, but when this girl looses her parents, she goes to this giant mansion and meets her cousin, who turns out to be very ill, and she discovers a garden there, that is completely surrounded by a fence, and she learns her uncle actually locked the garden because his wife had died in that garden....

Back to topic, I always loved Fleming's style of opening mid-mission and flashing back to M briefing Bond. I would like to see that once in a movie, it'd be cool.
