Frederick Gray certainly was a long-serving Minister for Defense, wasn't he? As far as we know, he served from 1977 through to 1987 and possibly a little on either side as well, out of the spotlight. What is most remarkable about this is, in 1979, the ruling party in Britain changed from James Callaghan's Labour to the Conservative party, under the leadership of Baroness Thatcher. So, assuming Gray became the Minister when Callaghan came to power in 1976, as is most likely, he must have done some remarkable political backflipping to keep his cushy post. This thread is is an exposé of the remarkable story of this modern Alcibiades' successful leap from a sinking ship onto the Thatcher bandwagon, which would not start to lose it wheels until 1990.
Who would like to discuss the early years; his struggle to claim the Ministry in 1976?

I'm only 18, but I've done my research! And about your country's political structure, no less!
Besides, this thread isn't supposed to be serious, just something interesting to give Freddie a bit of a scandalous history.
