How Many More Bond Movies Will Pierce Brosnan Do?

The title is self explanatory. Pierce has done 4 so far, and he's signed on for a fifth (Bond 21). So after Bond 21, how many more do you think Pierce will do before retiring from the 007 role?

I personally think he'll get talked back to do Bond 22 as a farewell. He always seems to get talked back into the role, and I know EON/MGM will very much want him in Bond 22 (for 2007), instead of trying out a new actor then.

What do you think? You can also comment on how many more you think he SHOULD do, but only vote on how many more you think he WILL do.

well i think he should do a few more. but i'm guessing that he won't do any after Bond 21.

He definetely will stop after bond 21. I think it will be his last film and by reading a few interviews, it doesn't seem like he wants to end it in a bad note and turn out to be too old and out of shape in his final bond film. So personally Bond 21, bye bye Brosnan, what a great bond you were. My favorite along with Connery.

However, if he would do one more after Bond 21 to leave with the year 2007, that would be really sweet indeed. But I don't think it'll happen in this dimension.

Well, I only based my vote on that Pierce had said before DAD that it would be his last, but then came back for another. Plus, given the timing for 22, I know that MGM/EON will be really motivated to not be trying someone new, with the significance of the year and all.

Thats true. He also seems to enjoy the role and never says anything bad about it. He mentioned he wanted to tie Connery at six. But when I think about it, Pierce doing bond at 54 will already be pushing it. I thought his best stage was in The World is not Enough, he looked damn good. In Die Another Day, the aging was beginning to show and the picture of him on the Die Another Day posters are not the best they could have got from him.

Look is a big part of bond and then again with these young ladies that hes sleeping with, it just doesn't look good. Plus an older bond girl around her mid 30's would actually be very good and would work.

But I wouldn't mind him going ahead and doing Bond 22 and what better fairwell than 2007, he just better give it his all and not look terrible while hes running away from explosions.

Oh and whoever voted 3 or more is out of their mind.

I don't know 6th, in some scenes in TWINE Brosnan looked much older than he did in some scenes in DAD. I think EON saw that after TWINE they needed to increase the makeup for Pierce.
Anyway, I think Pierce is without question going to do Bond 22. In fact there seems to be nothing but evidence that he is going to at least make that film. So I voted that he will make one more after Bond 21, but I wouldn't be surpised at all if he makes more than that. Basically the fact is that Brosnan would have to be really stupid to quit the role from a financial standpoint after Bond 21. I mean lets face it guys they don't "talk him back" as was suggested, they pay him what he demands, then he signs. That is how it works.

Pierce's comments about not wanting to play the role too long or whatever, come on that is exactly what you say when you want more money. Sean Connery and Roger Moore were going to quit after EVERY Bond film they made. This is nothing new. Lazenby and his agent tried the same thing after OHMSS, but it ended up backfiring on him because Connnery came back. At this time there is no other former Bond or obvious Bond choice to take the role from Brosnan so he can play that game endlessly and he is. That's all that talk is.

I'd love to see Pierce do Bond 22, just because it will be 2007. This is something that won't happen for another 1000 years, so most likely, this is the only chance to do it and they better do it right. With Pierce, they'd get pretty good assurance of that. The only problem is his appearance would be significantly aged. He's already getting gray hair, just imagine what it would be like in 2007.

His hair was already gray back during the GE era. They have been dieing it ever since so that isn't a problem, in truth his hair is completely gray already. I've seen pictures of him out and about and his hair was pure gray. Seems in movies though he has it colored.

I'm not against an older Bond, what I am against is an older Bond making films like DAD. If they make films like FRWL or something like that then it really wouldn't matter if he was in his mid 50's.

I think he'll get "talked back" into Bond 22 but stop there. Let's face it, the man's not getting younger. He knows it, we know it, and, significantly, EON knows it. I think Pierce Brosnan has enough clout in his own right now, which Bond helped a great deal of course, but has got more star power outside the role than Connery and Moore at similar stages in their careers, and he has his own production company to help things along in that regard, too. In short, he has set himself up nicely for life after Bond and knows staying too long may hazard that. EON, too, knows that a Bond past his prime will eventually translate into dwindling revenue in the long run.

Connery was the biggest star in the world and also only 41 when he was done with Bond (other than NSNA), so how could Brosnan be in a better position if he quits the role after 2007?

Because he has more successfully set himself up as a movie star outside of the Bond movies than Connery did, despite his DAF deal and despite the very good movies he made away from Bond (none of which had the mass appeal of the Bonds) plus Connery was encombered more than anything by the Bond-mania and the precedent for multiple Bonds wasn't there. In short, though he was the biggest star in the world, as you said, he was too associated with 007 to be immediately successful outside of it. As it was, he didn't really become a big star in his own right perhaps until The Untouchables.

Yes Span, I agree with all of what you said, but my point is Connery would be about the same age at The Untouchables time as Brosnan when he quits Bond.

Same age just about as Moore was when he quit Bond. And Roger produced several of his own films as well after he quit Bond, and they ALL flopped.

Sean Connery in his 60's to 70's gets the big movie roles, same thing with the Clint Eastwood's and Harrison Ford's, but that doesn't happen for the Roger Moore's and Pierce Brosnan's.

I think Pierce will do one more Bond after Bond 21. I don't want an AVATAK-style Bond 22 for Pierce (if he does do Bond 22).

Well there are two versions of this for me, there is the one that is the reasonable side of me, and the fanatic. The reasonable side says that Brosnan will definitley stay for B21, give yet another great performance, and give another cash cow to MGM. Then it would ultimately come down to contracts, while the negoations for B21 have seen a semi frank exchange of views, I doubt that will do Brosnan well the next time out; he will be older, and it will be harder for him to keep playing the role if he wishes for yet another three year gap. Thus, its highly unlikely he would be in B22, but, the fanatic, the one whose first glimpse of Bond was those white dots that revealed Pierce Brosnan strolling through the gun barrel desperately wishes for him to return to another Bond film, if only because I have yet to find a favorite that could adequately replace him.

He was a good actor, but I think Brosnan has overextended his welcome.
