Quantum of Solace Moved To November 14th in North America

Culver City, August 21, 2008) -- Columbia Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, announced today that it will release Quantum of Solace on November 14th in North America. The strategic move places the highly-anticipated James Bond adventure one week closer to the prime movie-going holiday window and takes advantage of last week’s decision to move the release date of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

“We saw the film recently in London and Marc Forster, Daniel Craig and the entire team at EON have truly delivered another extraordinary Bond adventure,” said Jeff Blake, Chairman of Worldwide Marketing and Distribution for the Columbia Tristar Motion Picture Group. “Quantum of Solace is a seamless continuation of the storyline that began with the last film. We believe November 14th is a great date that allows us to play straight through Thanksgiving and right into Christmas. The Bond films have a long history of entertaining audiences in this holiday corridor going back to Goldeneye in 1995. The studio enjoyed tremendous success opening Casino Royale in North America on November 17, 2006, and we believe this decision will give the public a wider opportunity to see the film over the holiday.”

Daniel Craig reprises his role as Ian Fleming’s James Bond 007 in Quantum of Solace, the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures/Columbia Pictures release of EON Productions' 22nd adventure in the longest-running film franchise in motion picture history. The film is produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli and directed by Marc Forster. The screenplay was written by Paul Haggis and Neal Purvis & Robert Wade

Prince William and Prince Harry will attend the world premiere of the 22nd 007 adventure on Wednesday, October 29th 2008 in London. The film will begin its worldwide roll out on October 31.


Now that the next "Harry Potter" installment won't be opening at Thanksgiving, Sony and MGM have jumped on the chance to bow its Bond pic "Quantum Solace" a week later than planned.
Pic will be released on Nov. 14 instead of Nov. 7.

Bond titles have traditionally opened the weekend before Thanksgiving, but "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Price" had been set to open Nov. 21. It's been pushed back until July.

"We believe Nov. 14 is a great date that allows us to play straight through Thanksgiving and right into Christmas," Sony chair of worldwide marketing and distribution Jeff Blake said. "We believe this decision will give the public a wider opportunity to see the film over the holiday."

"Quantum Solace" returns Daniel Craig to the bigscreen as James Bond.

In its new date, "Quantum Solace" goes up against 20th Century Fox's Nicole Kidman-Hugh Jackman epic "Australia," from director Baz Luhrmann, Universal comedy "Role Models" and MGM comedy "Soul Men."

Immediately after "Half-Blood Prince" moved last week, Summit Entertainment announced it will now open Catherine Hardwicke vampire adventure "Twilight" on Nov. 21.



Columbia Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, announced today that it will release Quantum of Solace on November 14th in North America. Quantum of Solace will begin its worldwide roll out on October 31.

The move makes Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa the only wide release on Nov. 7 (at least for now), and puts Quantum of Solace up against Australia, Nothing Like the Holidays, Role Models and Soul Men on Nov. 14.

Ha....lol It's like the ride home with that HARD -ON just got longer....lmao...

I'am starting to wonder just how much Sony ,MGM and Columbia are paying off Warner Bros for this? Why delay a movie like Potter that can rake in just as much now, than in 8 months from now ? I BELIEVE SOME ONE WAS PAID OFF FOR THIS! I would like to have seen Bond up against Potter for this one.....

Nothing new on the sony official "QoS" website yet.We might get NEW TRAILER OUT OF THIS as they still have yet to change the date on the trailer to 00 NOV14....

I Doubt the U.K. premiere and release will be rolled back as the Prince's schedule for the premiere has been set. U.K general release possibly though ...The bootleggers will have a field day on this one.
