Moonraker (like a week ago
)I really enjoyed it. Praise Moore's performance. Not as good as some of the other films, but still great fun. Enjoyed it quite a lot. Great film! ![]()

Now I'm back at uni I've started the old James Bond nights again. Intended to watch them in order, but now just taking requests. Have watched:
YOLT- house-mate got excited about seeing Blofeld and his cat, but said that Bond's Japanese transformation was potentially offensive and that the special effects for the volcano eruption at the end were poor. DN- They found this a bit slow OHMSS- He found the fights too exaggerated but otherwise well cut, the feel of the film quite unusual for Bond as well as the continuity of hunting for Blofeld, and he found that it was a bit slow at times and dragged on a bit. Interestingly, he said that Lazenby's response to Tracey's death wasn't very "Bond" compared to Craig with Vesper. I said that Bond was marrying Tracey so it was different, but he replied that Craig planned to spend the rest of his life with Vesper, so what's the difference. And whilst Craig seemed angry and upset initially, he just became bitter and cold by the end, which he found was more Bondish than Lazenby crying in front of the policeman. After that discussion, I thought he had a point! Next up will probably be CR and QoS, or LTK, or if it's me alone then I'll watch FRWL. Every Wednesday now!

I think Bond himself is the key ingredient of the films: the combination of the larger-than-life and his stereotypically British response. When faced with larger-than-life gadgets, villains and situations, he must take all of this in his stride, keep calm and carry on, and, no matter how difficult the situation is, he must not only pull through but ultimately come out on top |

Watched CR and TSWLM over the past week. As always, CR was received well (and I particularly appreciated it this time- very well done film, with some good dialogue when Bond/Vesper meet). However, my housemate found TSWLM dull and hated Hamlisch's score?! He then deemed it his least favourite Bond film he's seen thus far... Can we save Roger in his view?

Watched QoS, which received a satisfactory reception, though never surpassing CR, but they don't seem to like Moore/Lazenby/Connery era that much. Watched TMWTGG, and, like TSWLM, was described as dull, and during both TSWLM and TMWTGG, there was not one single smile, let alone a laugh, at any of Moore's quips. Can't understand it!? Watched FRWL on my own, enjoyed it as always, and it seems to go really quickly- it seems to go at an enjoyable pace then, before you know it, they're running for the train and the film hasn't got much longer to go! A classic Bond, with nice, subtle humour (does better job of it than QoS IMO), with lines such as "Well he didn't die of old age", referring to the agent in the mosque.
What I can't understand is how there were very few complaints with Dr No, which is relatively slow-paced; yet TSWLm, with submersible cars, metal-toothed henchman, and ski jumps leading to Union Jack parachutes is deemed "dull"? The youth of today, eh?

A View To A Kill.
I've always loved this one. It's clearly not the best of Bond, but it clearly proves that even the so-called "lesser" Bonds are great. A good ending for Roger's tenure as 007 ;D

The Living Daylights
Licence To Kill Both great films, and Dalton is a terrific Bond. Definitely the most accurate portrayal of Bond as Fleming conceived him. The scene with Bond and Pushkin must be one of the best scenes ever in a Bond film. BTW, I had never noticed, Dalton's suit in that particular scene, is exactly the same that was used for Brosnan in the Peru sequences of Everything Or Nothing. It's sad that Dalton didn't get the chance to make a third film, hopefully the same won't happen to Craig :S
