In addition to stepping into a leading role, Grammy and BRIT Award winner Joss Stone will create original music for the game, luring players into an explosive third-person action adventure where they will unravel an international conspiracy across exotic locales. Activision has announced a brand new James Bond game, titled James Bond 007: Bloodstone. The game is based on a brand new script from Bruce Feirstein, who co-wrote the film version of Goldeneye, and stars Daniel Craig and Joss Stone, the latter of whom will also be providing music. It will combine cover-based shooting, hand-to-hand combat and driving according to the publisher, and is slated to appear on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and Nintendo DS in Q4 2010. http://www.bloodstonegame.com/

The news ends months of speculation about the game, which had been teased by retailer listings and registered domain names. Activision has confirmed that the single player game will feature a brand new story spanning Athens, Istanbul, Monaco and Bangkok, with both land and sea-based action. The publisher has also promised 16-player multiplayer modes based around spies vs mercenaries team play.

Bloodstone will also feature the voices and likenesses of Daniel Craig, Judi Dench and Joss Stone. As well as appearing in the game, Stone will be providing an original musical track, titled “I’ll Take it All”, written and performed by both her and Dave Stewart. The PS3, Xbox 360 and PC versions are being developed by Liverpool-based Bizarre Creations, while the DS version is being handled by n-Space.

Joss Stone nets Bond girl role

Joss Stone has been unveiled as the latest Bond girl.

A digital version of the soul singer will star as femme fatale Nicole Hunter in James Bond 007: Blood Stone, the agent's new video game.

Dripping with diamonds at the London launch, Joss said: "I'm the first Bond girl from the West Country - instead of Martini in my glass I'm drinking cider and nobody will ever know."

Speaking at the launch of the new James Bond game Blood Stone today, longtime 007 producer Michael G. Wilson refused to be drawn into talking about the problems that have beset the production of Bond 23 which recently led to it being canned indefinitely whilst MGM attempted to rectify their financial woes.

Wilson, 007 producer since 1985's A View To A Kill, did offer reassurances that Quantum of Solace wouldn't be the last time we saw Bond on the big-screen by saying - "Both Barbara [Brocolli, his Bond co-producer] and I are convinced that we'll be bringing you another Bond film soon."

Despite having Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes attached to direct, production on Bond 23 was delayed back in April as MGM failed to secure a buyer, and further reports earlier this month said production had been cancelled indefinitely thanks to MGM's ongoing financial crisis.
