Will Bond 23 Be Titled "Carte Blanche" ?

The current news from India about a train and car chase and South Africa being a location in the film, as well this news today may lead us to believe that EON will use Deavers new Bond Book and some elements from it.

Deaver also said in an interview awhile back when the book was released That (Carte Blanche has gone to EON) , Meaning that a copy was sent to them not confirming that they are using it by any means. EON gets courtesy copies of all the books from the Bond authors anyway.

News today of this possible Bond 23 theme song performer connection claiming that "Carte Blanche" is to be the title of Bond 23.

Perhaps EON has gone thru with using Deavers Book I have read it and thought about it more especially after the India train sequence news which is in the Books opening pages but set in Serbia.

Serbian to play cello in Bond movie - At one of the many concerts the musician held in France during the Cannes Film Festival, the producers and the director of the next Bond film were in the audience, who were staggered by what they had heard and on the spot offered Jelena a chance to write the opening score for the new James Bond film, entitled Carte Blanche.

Although the 23rd James Bond film is still in its early production phase, when it comes to the music, Jelena reveals her opening score will be a mixture of the recognisable Bond theme sound and a more classical touch.

I'll assume during the interview the reporter asked her about the film, and she revealed the title. Since the reporter typically covers music, I'll also assume he didn't grasp the significance of the information.

So what does that mean for the movie? Well Jeffrey Deaver just wrote a James Bond Novel also called, Carte Blanche (Blank Check), and was released just this past year. Deaver is a great writer, best known for The Bone Collector, which is the first in a series of books about a quadriplegic detective, Lincoln Rhyme, who solves crimes from his bed. A feature film was made of the book, starring Denzel Washington and Angelie Jolie, but wasn't nearly as good as the book.

In the book James Bond is on location in Serbia, India, and South Africa. All locations that have been officially chosen by director Sam Mendes for scenes in the upcoming film. Coincidence? Probably not. So let's take a look at what James Deavers book is about with and interview and a video of Deaver talking about the book. One of the few pieces of information that has come out about the movie is that the producers are frantically trying to set-up a major scene involving a train in India. The book also features a major scene involving a train, I'd love to give you more details, but I don't feel like spoiling every little detail. Pick up the book if you must know.

What were the pros and cons of having Bond as a lead character instead of your usual protagonists, Lincoln Rhyme and Kathryn Dance?

There really were no pros and cons. I approach each book with the frame of mind that I need to tailor the story to the character. Bond was an international, tactically oriented intelligence agent. I will say that I gave Bond some of Lincoln Rhyme's brilliant ratiocination; he engages in mental chess matches against the villain as often as he pulls out his gun.



How did you decide how much and in what what ways to change and update Bond? Why make him a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, for example, and not Iraq? Why make him an ex-smoker?

I did not change many facts, vis a vis the original Bond, though in updating him I had to make sure he was very appealing and current. Smoking was out not because it's politically incorrect, but because it's a bad habit for a spy nowadays, given the use of forensic evidence in espionage work

In expectation to see one of the latest James Bond franchise pieces to be shot in Serbia, a domestic artist has been given a chance to join the crew of the 23rd instalment of the cult film series. Cello player Jelena Mihailovic is the first Serbian to have been part of a Bond flick, as she has been hired to write the original score for the film.

Mihailovic will join the list of music acts who have contributed to the unavoidable opening song for a 007 agent film, such as Paul McCartney, Madonna, Alicia Keys, Tina Turner, Sheryl Crow, Duran Duran and the rest.

As it often helps with major career breaks such as this one, Jelena was in the right place at the right time.

- “I am delighted to have been given the honour to meet those important people. I have had a chance to work with some established musicians like Gautier Capucon, Gary Hoffman, Christian-Pierre La Marca, Leonid Gorokhov, but now opportunities are opening up. Contact has been made and I am expecting an invitation to go to the USA soon, and until that time, I will be working on my new album, which is due to be released in October,” said Jelena, who has also been dubbed the Serbian Vanessa May.

As Mihailovic further reveals, her new album will comprise pieces by Bach, Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles and Gipsy Kings, selecting a melting pot of genres, tastes, generations and styles.

Jelena Mihailovic was born in Valjevo and graduated from the Belgrade Music Academy as one of the top students of her class.

After further education abroad and as one of the finest students, she was offered an opportunity to record an album produced by the Cultural Educational Union and the Affirmation Fund.

I've just started reading the book and it's really exciting to imagine it as a movie now. Great plot for a Daniel Craig film.

Well it does throw a third in there possibly as Risico and Property of a Lady are the two leading front runner titles of the Bond fans , Would be funny if it was none of the above or C.B. The current locations definately leave out the title 007 in New York , Might even be some title we never even heard of from any Bond author before .Being the 50th Anniv I would expect they would in some kind of way include something from and in tribute to Fleming and his estate.

I do like the title 'Carte Blanche' a lot, as well as the reasoning behind it - that an agent is given free rein to take any actions necessary for a mission. Very Bond.

"Casino Royale" and "Quantum of Solace" were both very 'unbond' film titles, as far as the general public would go. They don't seem to fit in the realm of titles like "Tomorrow Never Dies" "Live and LEt Die" A View to a Kill" "Die Another Day" etc. These newer two movies kind of have a whimsical quality to them, as far as their title goes. I do kind of like "Property of a Lady"
