007 vs XXX?

Bond 21 has recently been pushed forward to 2004.

XXX 2 has long been due in 2004.

Do you think EON's rescheduling was specifically to continue testing their franchise aginst XXX?

that could be. maybe they'd like to show that Bond is here to stay, and they won't be pushed around by some balding retarded ape who thinks he's a secret agent. I'm sure XXX will die out in 2-4 years, just like Austin Powers is dying out. but i'd also like to think that Eon is just listening to its fans request to have bond 21 in 2004....maybe a mixture of both....

XXX is v.good in it's own right and a decent chunk of my mates reckon it toasts Bond - who they reckon has run out of fuel

It's strength is that Xander Cage doesn't TRY to be James Bond - unlike for example Jason Bourne.

It's weakness is that ripoff Stars and Stripes parachute jump.

I'd have to check XXX 2 before making predictions on the future of the XXX franchise.

XXX is certainly the only one of the new batch of spies(including Austin Powers) that Bond hasn't been able to blow away first time out.

Given that Bond 21 is supposed to be Brosnan's last. If XXX 2 manages to improve on the original...Bond 21 will need to come up hot.

how can you say that XXX wasnt trying to be bond???? i never saw the movie, but i know of a lot of bond rip-offs.

first of all, the entire spy formula is a bond original, there fore any spy flick is basically a spawn of bond.

in XXX, i know he says "shaken and stirred"

im pretty sure he says "the things i do for my country"
and im sure there are countless other ones.

2. When I say 'wasn't trying to be Bond' well can you see Bond coming out with 'You don't want me here and I don't want to be here'.

Can you see Bond infiltrating a group like Anarchy 99?

As a hardcore Bond fan, I refuse to ever see XXX. It is a HUGE ripoff of Bond. I cringed every time I saw the trailer.

And another thing, what kind of secret agent has tattoos all over his arms?!

The answer to that question is: He was never asked to.

He was specifically recruited to deal with a particular type of bad guy - one that more traditional agents had gotten toasted by.

i think XXX was awful, he tried to be Bond in every way possible, maybe they are trying to face off, though if they are i dont really see the point. DAD already beat XXX at the box office in 2002

I agree that Bourne is more like Bond than XXX, but Bourne does not seem to have the secret agent aura surrounding him like Bond has.

Tom, i would like to thank you for your boycott of XXX. like you I would change the channel when a XXX commerical or trailer would come on because it is a ripoff of Bond and almost gives bond a bad name. I do believe that true hardcore fans of Bond would never spend money on watching XXX solely because they tried to portray Vin as the new Bond. Not to say that i will never watch it, i never plan to watch it, hope i never watch it, will never pass an opportunity up because i was watching it or anything else. But if i was bed ridden and the TV was on, volume to loud to go to sleep and i was in a full body cast so i couldn't knock myself out by ramming my head against the Bed post, i would watch it.
