Least Favorite James Bond Actor
Here's a thread where you can talk about your LEAST favorite Bond of the current five (we might have to do this again after number six gets a few shots at it). Feel free to vote in the poll, as well, as long as I remember to put it up at the end of the post! The one rule you all must obey, though, is NO FLAMING! People are allowed to have their opinions, and their opinions should be respected.
I personally like Dalton the least. Not to say he's a bad actor or anything, but he just couldn't convey to me that he was Bond. Some of the classic Bond things, like the "Bond. James Bond." line and ordering a martini just seemed really flat to me when he did it. Sure, he could convey emotion and be a real cold guy when he needed to, but I just didn't feel that he was Bond when he did it. If he was playing some other action character, where he wasn't limited to the constraints of the Bond character, he might have done just fine, but I didn't feel that he was Bond. |

If I could extend the no-flaming rule a little further if you don't mind, Perm...
Don't just say "I didn't like Actor X because he is a horrible **** and should die" sort of thing. That's just wrong. There's a distinct difference between criticising an actor's performances and their person; and the latter could even be construed as defamation. This includes things like "I don't like him because he sucks", something I hate reading because of its ridiculous circular logic. Tell us why you think he sucks. I didn't like Moore, because he was, as aptly described in one of this site's opinion essays, "the PPK-toting comedian". He, of all the actors, had the least in common with the Fleming character. Not to say he was bad, when in the mood I could watch one of his films and thoroughly enjoy it, but for me the others conveyed the essence of the Fleming novels much more than he was able to do.

None of the bonds were bad, whatsoever. We got to experience a different style with each actor which is great and some will like the bond after Brosnan and some won't, its nature.
My two favorite Bonds are Connery and Brosnan, to me they are equally the best. Moore would come third and fourth Dalton. Having said that, George Lazenby would have to be my least favorite Bond, but he wasn't bad. I feel the problem with him was, they wanted him to be similar like Connery. He had to fill Connery's shoes and that was a lot of pressure being so big as it was in the 60's. Lazenby to me looked a little stiff and never suave. He was not too good in the one-liners, and although some people say he had the looks, I don't necessarily think he did. Lazenby just didn't seem like he was on top of things, that he could take control. In some scenes he seemed like a lost spy, not knowing what to do. The problem could have also been the way the director wanted him to act, I don't know. But I still enjoy On Her Majesty's Secret Service, but it just isn't one of my favorite bond films. If Connery had done On Her Majesty's Secret Service, it could have possibly been one of the best bond films. I would have liked to have seen Lazenby in Diamonds Are Forever because then I could further judge Lazenby. But since we can't change that, I'll judge by his solo bond film. Lazenby was just an okay bond, but not great.

Geprge Lazenby, because I thought he just dragged on with some bits. Listen to "indubadably" [think that's right], at the end. That isn't an Englishman, that's a posh Lord. He did the last moment well though.

Dalton is the 4th best, then after a long gap comes Brosnan in 5th. So Pierce is my least favorite by a wide margin.

George Lazenby. His acting was awful. His dialogue was bland.

One more thing, Mr. Blofeld, how do you explain dressing in drag in 1971? The seventies were a very confusing time for me. Besides, everyone was doing it. |

I voted Moore, he was definately the most un fitting bond. He seemed too lazy to be bond.

Brosnan took the lead for least favorite because of you seanlivestwice! Its all your fault.
Just joking there pal. Surprisingly, Connery doesn't even have one vote. Well maybe its not too much of a surprise.

I think that Pierce would have been a lot better if they had him while he was a little more youthful. He has a little bit of a pot belly there in DAD, but Moore has even more of one starting with FYEO.

Yes, Brosnan did gain weight and in Die Another Day it shows. However, lately he has lost weight and has been hitting the gym. I saw him in Jay Leno just last month and he looks good.

NONONONO!
All the Bonds are good! Without Sean, we would have never have gotten started! Without George, Bond couldn't fall in love! Without Roger, Bond wouldn't a sophisicated Englishman! Without Timothy, Bond would be a control freak who always follows orders! Without Pierce, Bond wouldn't be able to move with the times! But to be honost, Lazenby one-liners are really mediore. |
