Hugh Jackman

More rumours, opinions and other generally inconsequential factors in EON's decision. Lewis Gilbert, it seems, fancies Jackman for the role.

ONCE WAS NOT ENOUGH

Well, I personally kind of thought that as of now, it was down to three actors, Christian Bale, Clive Owen, and Hugh Jackman, and this simply because no one else really fits the role even slightly, or they are too old, too young, too short, blah, blah, blah.
Hugh Jackman, would I think just barely cut it as a Bond, he would be the worst yet, but could probably do it. But he really does not look anything like Bond at all, he needs some serious plastic surgery or something to have Bond's looks. But Jackman has the name, the fame, the box office power, and Christian Bale (Batman), and Clive Owen, (Beyond Borders huge flop) have maybe now been taken out of the race because of that. So Jackman may get it by default in essence. Of the three Jackman would be a distant third of who I would choose for the role. Honestly, as it is shaping up now that Jackman is in the lead for the role, I seriously hope EON does like they did with Lazenby, open the role for every guy in the world that wants to apply, then pick the best person that does. Because if they do they will get a lot better Bond, someone like Lazenby.

Well, If you look closely at Hugh Jackman's face, especially in photos of close-ups he is actually about the most unlike and opposite of what Bond looks like person you could find for the role.
You could not find an actor that looks anything more the opposite of a Bond than Jackman if you tried, and that is really a problem I think, because one of the main appeals of Bond is the close ups of Bond when he is giving the one-liners and all of that. With Jackman that will be eliminated from the character because he looks so non-Bond. And to me, that is one of the main appeals of the Bond character, and all the others had it, Dalton didn't have the humor, but he had the face, and the close-ups of his expressions were key. Can't happen with Jackman, because if they do, people will be turned off by an actor playing Bond that is somewhat odd looking.

Not the most unlike Bond 003, the most unlike Bond looking.
The most unlike Bond looking facially. Not the most unlike Bond. The face, just extremely unlike Bond in his face, is what I am talking about.

Thanks for the tip-off Spanner. Just added it to the front page.
As for Jackman, I bet he'd do a good job playing Bond if he gets the role. I have a feeling I would get more and more used to him as 007 as time went on if he got the role.

Just to warn you, that link will need to be updated in like a day, since that's how IMDB does those people links. They just change the content and move the previous stuff in the archive.

I think if you go the actor's page, in this case Hugh Jackman's page on imdb, and go to news articles from his page, then find the article you are talking about there, then click on the link to the article, then the page the article is on once you get to it, is one that stays with the same url I think.
So going to the article that way I think it stays the same, in the "archived news." I think this works for all the articles, you have to access it from the actor's page to get it on a page that the url, and thus any link posted here stays the same. I think that is how it works, but I could be wrong.

I could probably handle Jackman as Bond, I never thought of him as Bond before, but I can see it. He is English isn't he?

Jackman is Australian.
Brosnan actually said, and when he was being serious (he WASN'T being serious about Owen or Salmon, I saw the interviews), anyway when asked to seriously give the answer for Bond, he said Paul Bettany, and although he isn't quite right for the part, he IS still an option, unlike so many of the others, and he would be much more suitable than Jackman. Maybe they could dye his hair or something.

Yes, the hair dye would be a must, but he is actually more Bond like than Jackman.
