Timothy Dalton
BM Hall of Fame Induction Year: 2005
IMDb Page
Contributions: Born on March 21, 1944 in Colwyn Bay, Whales. Timothy Dalton has had little success as an actor, but while portraying Bond for a short time in the films "Living Daylights" and "Licence to Kill," he blew audiences away as the character of James Bond turned completely around and traded his sense of humor in for a sharp edge. Dalton was a huge name in the Shakespeare world as one of the better Shakespearean actors. Dalton has appeared in "The Lion in Winter," "Flash Gordon," "The Rocketeer," "The Beautician and the Beast," and "Looney Tunes: Back in Action."
After "For Your Eyes Only," Roger Moore was considering leaving the James Bond series, and Dalton was the first choice for a replacement. Dalton had to decline because he had prior obligations with a television show and a movie. In 1987, he was finally able to take over the role of James Bond. Both of Dalton's Bond movies received little at the box office, but fans argue that he could possibly be the best Bond, let alone the best interpretation of the character from the Ian Fleming novels. Dalton is the first James Bond to receive a PG-13 rating, a rating that continued all the way through Brosnan's era. Also known as the tallest of the James Bonds. Dalton was forced to leave the series after "License to Kill" turned into a bomb at the box office, but his legendary cold-hearted performance and his chiseled good looks makes him perhaps the best James Bond actor to date.
