Llewelyn has appeared in more James Bond movies than any other actor, however his on screen time is roughly only thirty minutes. His modest approach to the series, saying that he would play Q for as long as the producers wanted him to play the part, made him one of the greatest assets that the series has ever had. Llewelyn almost was forced to depart the series when Albert R. Broccoli decided that the gadgetry in the series was something he wanted to phase out, however, when fans heard about this Broccoli was bombarded with letters demanding that the much loved Q return. Desmond Llewelyn returned with no argument or question. He was just glad that he got to slip into the lab coat once again.
His last appearance as Q was in "The World is Not Enough." His death occurred shortly after the films release. When the average person thinks about a Bond movie, they think of four things; the cars, the drinks, the women, and the gadgets. Some people believe that the gadgets are the most important from the list, as it gives James Bond the edge over any of his enemies. More times than not, Bond been saved by a gadget given to him by Q. Desmond Llewelyn added more to the series than any of the other actors. He knew his part, and he knew it well. He always allowed his character to grow and change, and as he became more comfortable with James Bond, his character did. If there was one actor to return to the series, Desmond Llewelyn would be the top choice for most fans.
