The Latest James Bond Headlines
Meet the REAL Le Chiffre
Posted on February 15, 2006 5:25 PM
Eon Productions held a press conference today to reveal the next Bond baddie and hold a small question-and-answer session. Contrary to a previous BM report, Bollywood actor Gulshan Grover will not play the villain role.
The big news? Mads Mikkelsen will officially play Bond's nemesis, Le Chiffre, in 2006's Casino Royale. Mikkelsen is a Danish actor unfamiliar to most, but has a distinct demeanor that should serve well across from Daniel Craig's new, refreshed James Bond.

The conference was attended by James Bond Daniel Craig, Mr. Mikkelson, Dame Judi Dench (M) and director Martin Campbell. The question-and-answer session was short but nothing less than interesting. Most notably, as reported by CommanderBond.net, is the following:
New James Bond Daniel Craig, perhaps thinking of the frayed nerves caused by starting the $100 million-plus shoot without a love interest, assured that the shoot is progressing anyway: "We haven't got there so it's all fine."
True to form, one journalist from the Czech magazine Spy asked Craig what he thought of media speculation about his "orientation." After a moment, Craig responded icily, "I didn't know they had but thanks for the information."
Another local reporter got off to an interesting start by asking the assembled group, Craig, Campbell, Judi Dench and producers Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, if they were aware there was a previous Casino Royale.
Judi Dench, who has regularly delivered a cool, scheming M to the superspy franchise, said her work with Craig on the Prague shoot usually begins with a few jokes, "and that seems to be vital. I only started working with Daniel yesterday, but we found common ground."
Well it looks like next on the list is to get a Bond girl...

Filming for the movie began in January and will continue shooting in Prague, the Bahamas and Pinewood Studios in the United Kingdom. Casino Royale, the 21st official James Bond film, is scheduled for release on November 17, 2006.
