In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Pierce Brosnan stated that he is done playing the part as the world's favorite secret agent, James Bond 007. This comes after rumors that the actor and Metro-Goldwyn Mayer had a dispute over the direction the franchise is going in, as well as Brosnan's salary.

There has been no official announcement from MGM or EON Productions about Brosnan's removal or any possible successor. The interview conducted by Entertainment Weekly includes these snippets from Brosnan:

That's it, I've said all I've got to say on the world of James Bond.

We went out on a high, and I look back affectionately at that time and doing those four movies. But I've said all I gotta say on it.
