Numerous media outlets are reporting that Daniel Craig has signed a lucrative contract with Eon Productions to the tune of £13 million to don the 007 suit for the next two Bond films. This will make Mr. Craig one of the highest paid (if not highest) paid British actors today (Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen is in line to make around £14 million for his latest adaptation of his gay fashion writer character, Bruno).

Daniel Craig has something to smile about

The 39-year-old is expected to receive £5 million for the next film, and another £8 million for a third outing.

The fee is said to be twice the amount he originally negotiated with production company Eon, and it could set him up to become Britain's highest-paid actor.

In comparison (check out The Bonds section here at BM), here are the salaries for each movie that the other actors earned for portraying our favorite secret agent:

Sean Connery
Dr. No (1962) $125,000
From Russia With Love (1963) $250,000
Goldfinger (1964) $500,000
Thunderball (1965) $750,000
You Only Live Twice (1967) $1,000,000
Diamonds Are Forever (1971) $1.25m + 12.5% of gross
Never Say Never Again (1983) $5,000,000

George Lazenby
On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) £50,000

Roger Moore
Octopussy (1983) $4,000,000
A View To A Kill (1985) $5,000,000
Other movie salaries unknown.

Timothy Dalton
The Living Daylights (1987) $3,000,000
Licence To Kill (1989) $5,000,000

Pierce Brosnan
GoldenEye (1995) $4,000,000
Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) $8,200,000
The World Is Not Enough (1999) $12,400,000
Die Another Day (2002) $16,500,000

Keep in mind that the salaries are adjusted for inflation.

And let's be serious - if '22' has anywhere near the amount of commercial success that Casino Royale had, Craig will get an even bigger payday!

For those in the U.S. who were wondering, £13 million is equal to over $26 million! Wow!
