In an article published by the Hollywood Reporter today, it was revealed that Dan Bradley has been named the second unit director of production on Bond 22.

Dan Bradley accepts the Best 2nd Unit Director Taurus award at the 2005 World Stunt Awards for The Bourne Supremacy

Doesn't sound like THAT big of a news story for your average James Bond fan. However, it is interesting to note Mr. Bradley's past projects.

Most notably, he was the second unit director for two of the Jason Bourne movies - The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum. Mr. Bradley also won the Best 2nd Unit Director Taurus award at the 2005 World Stunt Awards for his work on The Bourne Supremacy. Pretty impressive.

But, yeah. That's right. After all of that Bond-bashing and media buzz about the Bourne vs. Bond phenomena not too long ago, someone from the Bourne camp has joined (as Bourne director Paul Greengrass put it) the "relic" of a franchise that the James Bond movies have apparently become.

A peace offering? A publicity stunt?

Who knows. And really, who cares. As an admitted fan (proudly) of the Bourne series, having anyone from Jason's world joining James' production team can only be a positive in my opinion. As a second unit director, Mr. Bradley will have a hand in assisting in creating and coordinating action sequences in the film (potentially something to with the Siena sequence or Madrid filming?)

Awesome!

Check out the Hollywood Reporter article:

Ever since the "Bourne" movies have come on the scene, the makers of James Bond have been in the line of fire for having a dusty, lethargic spy on their hands - "Casino Royale" notwithstanding.

But it looks like EON Prods. and Columbia Pictures might be kicking it up a notch for the next Bond film.

Taking a page from the "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em" handbook, the production has hired "Bourne Supremacy" and "Bourne Ultimatum" action designer Dan Bradley as the film's second unit director.

Bradley plotted out and directed the acclaimed fight sequences and car chases as the stunt coordinator and second unit director of the two Paul Greengrass-helmed "Bourne" sequels and will service the working-titled "Bond 22" in much the same capacity. The producers want him to continue and build on the more realistic and gritty approach to the veteran British spy begun in last year's "Casino Royale."

While no date has been set, "Bond 22" is eyeing a start date in the winter.

Bradley is coming off of working on the latest Indiana Jones movie. His recent credits as second unit director include the two "Spider-Man" sequels, "Superman Returns" and "Seabiscuit." He is repped by ICM.

Should be interesting to see his contributions come to life!

Ford GT40

Ford GT40 in Bond 22?
Rumor has it, according to Mr. Bradley, that the juiced up Ford GT40 will in fact make an appearance in 22:

What are the most expensive cars you've wrecked?
You know, tons of Mercedes, limousines, Caddies, Alfa Romeos. I've never wrecked a Ferrari. I've done Porsches but everybody has a Porsche so they're not that interesting to me.

You're going to get to wreck an Aston Martin if you do Bond.
I'm hearing that there's Aston Martin and GT40s in the next Bond. I can't wait.

Even sweeter!

NOTE: I have been making these 100 x 100 'Bond 22' news article icons for a while now - and thought of a mini sort of contest. No, no monetary or gift value for the winner of this contest - this is more like for bragging rights...of some kind at least. So I am opening up to you, readers of BM. If you so choose, you can create a 'Bond 22' themed 100 x 100 news icon for BondMovies.com and be featured as a guest artist for upcoming 'Bond 22' news articles!

I guess I could just keep using the same icons over and over again (like I am currently almost in the habit of doing), but I'd rather see some fans take a shot at it.

So where and how do I submit my entry?
If you are not already, please sign up (it's free) for the BondMovies.com Message Board and submit your 100 x 100 news article images in this thread.

You may 'sign' your artwork if you'd like - but I'll also mention you in the current article as the guest artist. I'm not looking for Mona Lisas here, but I also don't want any stick figure drawings - so enter and if your image isn't grotesque I will more than likely use it.

Thanks!
