Roger Moore Gets Hollywood Star
Posted on October 17, 2007 8:34 AM
In case any of you have not heard, James Bond's own Sir Roger Moore was awarded a star on Hollywood's Walk Of Fame at the end of last week. It has been a long time coming, to say the least, Sir Roger.
With an acting career spanning five decades and countless hours dedicated to his Unite For Children (UNICEF) work (for which he is a spokesman and volunteer), it is amazing if not appalling that Bond's third double-oh has taken so long to be immortalized on the walk.
Since his time as Bond ended and other roles have come and gone, hundreds of other actors much his junior have come and been added on the walk. Unfortunately for some of them, Moore epitomizes the true meaning of being a Hollywood "star" and role model for generations to come.

Unlike some other stars who find it normal to check in and out of rehabilitation clinics for their vices, Moore has used his time after striking it big in Hollywood for the benefit of others. His work with UNICEF and other charitable contributions are nothing short of noble.
After all, we do address him as Sir Roger Moore, don't we?
Congratulations, Sir Roger!

Notes: Moore becomes the third James Bond actor to be immortalized on Hollywood's Walk of Fame - joining Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan.
Ironically, when James Bond producer Albert R. 'Cubby' Broccoli received a star on the Walk of Fame in 1981, Sir Roger Moore was the presenter of the award.
Hollywood's Chamber of Commerce nominates potential candidates of the award every May 31st, are voted on one month later and awarded by the end of the year.
