After four years working on his Kill Bill ninja-saga, film director Quentin Tarantino plans to approach James Bond producers (likely Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli) with his own vision of a James Bond movie. "I've always wanted to do it. I bumped into Pierce Brosnan and we talked about it. He liked the idea," Tarantino said.

It was only weeks ago that an exhausted Tarantino said that he would stop any future large-scale producitions for a while and focus on smaller projects. Advice from Eleanor Coppola, wife of legendary director Francis Ford Coppola and mother of Sofia Coppola (Lost in Translation), however, changed Tarantino's mind. Coppola apparently told Tarantino to "tackle ambitious projects while he still had his youth and energy." "It was actually quite profound advice that she gave. Not to say that you can't make a small movie in between, but now is not the time to do a left-handed project," Tarantino said. "Now is the time to climb Mount Everest."

Most notably, if allowed to do so, Tarantino would direct a James Bond movie similar in plot to the Ian Fleming novel Casino Royale. Tarantino said, "I would like to do the original book 'Casino Royale' and do it more or less the way the Ian Fleming book is." The two previous attempts at Royale were a 1967 spoof starring Woody Allen and David Niven and a 1954 made-for-tv movie starring Barry Nelson.

Asked if he thinks he will get the job from Bond producers, Tarantino simply said, "I don't know if they're going to go for it or not, but I'm letting them know I'm interested."
