With only 240 days left until the world premiere of James Bond's 22nd adventure Quantum Of Solace, some time in the very near future the producers of the film will need to make a decision on a pivotal piece of any Bond movie: the title theme performer.

Despite a report that Quantum's opening title sequence will be the longest ever for a Bond movie, the title theme will no doubt have an effect on audiences' first impressions of the movie. Frequent visitors to this site may know that personally, I believe that Chris Cornell's rock ballad to start off Casino Royale was the film's only slight flaw. (This is not to say that I disliked the theme, but I definitely thought there was some room for improvement.)

Well now, a musician from one of the world's most famous rock and roll bands, the Beatles, has voiced his opinion on who should perform the next Bond theme. Sir Paul McCartney, who, with his band Wings, performed the title theme for 1973's Live And Let Die, hopes that Grammy winning British recording artist Amy Winehouse will get the job.

From a recent stuff.co.nz article:

[McCartney] said: "I think Amy Winehouse would be really good, and I think she would do a really good job. My advice to her would be not to try and rhyme Solace with anything - that's too hard."

Paul also said despite being responsible for one of the most popular Bond tunes of all time, he wouldn't want to have the responsibility again.

He added: "I definitely wouldn't do it again. I have been trying to think of something to rhyme with Solace and all I can come up with is Wallace! I don't envy whoever is going to do the song!"

Although he pokes fun at the movie's title, I think his sentiments for the theme's performer are sincere albeit controversial. Celebrity gossip enthusiasts will remember Winehouse and her boyfriend over last year for their frequent run-ins with the law as well as her trips in and out of rehab to treat drug abuse.

Aside from these drug problems, Winehouse has been seen as a driving force of a new wave of 1950's style crooning that is sweeping the United Kingdom and the United States - incidentally winning five Grammy awards this past year, including Record of the Year for her flagship album, Back To Black.

So how would an Amy Winehouse theme fit in a James Bond opening title sequence? Some enthusiastic YouTube users took a Bond-ish type track off of her album and set it to title sequences from the past Bond films Diamonds Are Forever and Casino Royale.

The song, "Love Is A Losing Game," is a mellow song that itself would fit perfectly as a theme for Quantum Of Solace - just as the name of the movie evokes Bond's loss of love and search for healing - and we all know that Bond eventually becomes a womanizer and will not trust another woman again as he did with Vesper Lynd (yeah, he got married to Tracy Draco...but for the most part, Bond does not turn out to be a one woman man).

Check out "Love Is A Losing Game" set to each movie's opening title sequences below:

So, what do you think? Could Winehouse pull off a Bond theme? Do you think the song fits in either of these videos?
