Who can forget 1964's Goldfinger where we get a glimpse into James Bond's golfing habits? Not only did the golfing scene play a pivotal part in the movie, it was also a memorable one in the James Bond franchise.
For those needing a refresh, here is the golf scene, courtesy of YouTube (you'll have to excuse the subtitles):
Penfold Golf, Ltd., the company responsible for James Bond's signature golf balls in the movie, have recently announced a re-release of the famous 007 balls - Penfold Hearts - in celebration of Ian Fleming's centenary.
Interestingly and not surprisingly enough, as stated on the Penfold web site, Penfold Hearts golf balls sales increased after the release of Goldfinger.
Moreover, in celebration of Fleming and tribute to Bond fans worldwide, Penfold announced they are giving away one limited set of Penfold Hearts golf balls (the same brand from Goldfinger, worth £50 per set) to one lucky Bond (or golf) fan!
Some details about the set, which can be purchased here:
Highly-limited collector's set of one dozen Penfold Hearts. Only 500 dozen sets have been specially produced to celebrate the anniversary of Ian Fleming's birth.
Each set of 12 balls comes with a card of authenticity and a commemorative slipcase.
These collector's sets are unavailable elsewhere. We are not offering them for sale to retailers and they cannot be found anywhere else other than on the Penfold Golf website.
These sets will appreciate in value - we have already seen demand for the old Penfold golf balls, with single balls being snapped up at auction. Be the first to own the premier batch of relaunched Penfold Heart golf balls.
Each limited edition set is being offered at £50 including vat and postage within the UK.
A collectable gift for Bond fans, golfers and investors.
Special thanks to Penfold Golf, Ltd. for letting us know of their giveaway!
