So what does it sound like???

It oozes 'Bond,' yet may polarize Bond fans like any previous modern James Bond theme.

On one hand, you have the song's clever beat and sneaky horns that we heard in the Coke Zero commercial. The rest of the instrumental is satisfying - a quick tune that escalates and descends in tone and rhythm as the song progresses. Hints of the James Bond theme wander throughout both in piano and guitar form. It definitely is Jack White - very reminiscent of some White Stripes ballads. Alicia Keys talent shines in the song as well - you can tell just how much control and range she has with this - and it's a lot.

What may have to grow on fans are the vocals themselves, however. Yes, they sound good, but they are unique to say the least. No doubt Jack White and Alicia Keys have different vocal styles and abilities - and the song plays on that. Some might see it as a distraction, others may think they complement each other.

What about the lyrics?

Very Bond-centered. Can't go to much into the actual lyrics themselves, but I can tell you that they tie in with Bond and his current situation nicely.

Overall

Me, I'm almost in the middle on the issue after listening to it several times now. I feel like it will grow on me, as most new Bond themes do. Unfortunately, I'm also not jumping out of my chair about the song. I have already read some fan reactions saying the theme would have been fine as an instrumental. As for that, I can see it working, but not necessarily fitting into the movie itself.

I will hold my full judgment until I hear either a higher quality version (the encoding on my version is less than stellar) or see it in the theater with a title sequence as a backdrop, which I am positive will not disappoint!
