From Russia With Love - The Game!
Posted on January 31, 2005 9:03 PM
Bond gamers rejoice! The second James Bond movie, From Russia With Love, will be brought to consoles sometime this year, along with another James Bond title, by Electronic Arts Inc.
This marks the fourth James Bond movie that will be adapted into a video game, as well as the first from the 1960's (FRWL came to theaters in 1963). The announcement came from those at IGN.com, who reported that Electronic Arts was holding an informational seminar for students interested in the field of video game development at the University of Florida last week.
Using an early build of From Russia With Love on a PC workstation, EA showed six scenes of the company's first revisionist Bond game. The first scene portrayed Sean Connery flying across the sky in a jetpack in small town set in the 1960s. After landing, Connery jumps into a sports car with a desirable girl and a car chase-scene ensues. The scene ends as Connery's driving antics knock down a water tower. The other scene showed Pierce Brosnan sneaking on a boat dock, firing and blowing up explosive crates, and then jettisoning the location in a hybrid boat/hovercraft.
EA didn't reveal details about the reason for choosing 'Russia' as a template for their next game, although many believe the gaming company turned to the past Bond movie because of the vacanct Jmaes Bond role after Pierce Brosnan's firing. No word yet on the upcoming non-movie-based (Everything Or Nothing-esque) Bond adventure either, which will be helmed by Bruce Feirstein.
