Sources are telling the James Bond fansite CommanderBond.net that Eon Productions, Sony and the producers for Casino Royale are considering an actor in his 20's for the role of the next James Bond.

In what could result as an actor with the longest tenure as James Bond, a twenty-something man fits the bill for the young, refreshed Bond the producers had previously envisioned. The youngest actor to play James Bond was George Lazenby in 1969 when, at the age of 29, donned the 00 tuxedo in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Coincidentally, it was his first and last film.

Eon Productions and Sony are definitely taking a chance in considering a twenty-something actor for the role. The normally suave and sophisticated character of 007 could definitely take a nose-dive if he is asked for ID when he orders his vodka martini shaken, not stirred.

Then again, Eon, Sony and the producers are already taking a huge risk in 'Royale' by promising to tone down the CGI and special effects that normally attract more people at the box office. Along the same lines, reviving an Ian Fleming novel to film and focusing on character development and plot is not only rare for James Bond movies, but also for action/adventure films.

Regardless of the outcome, the path to a completed Casino Royale will be a wild and exciting one. Stay tuned for more news.
