Defending A View To A Kill

Many people consider A View To A Kill to be one of the worst Bond movies ever. I agree it`s hardly the best of them but I wouldn`t judge it too roughly. Obviously, Roger Moore was far too old to play Bond at the age of 57, but that wouldn`t make the movie ITSELF so much better or worse. California Girls by the Beach Boys really doesn`t belong in a pre-title sequence of a Bond movie, in my opinion, but that doesn't make AVTAK a lot of difference.
The plot of the movie is relatively similar to Goldfinger, and that`s excellent. Christopher Walken plays Max Zorin with a style that no Bond villain topped after him. The sets are just perfect. The Main Strike set and The Golden Gate scenes are unforgettable. Not so often has Bond been fighting in bridge constructs.
The one thing I dislike is Grace Jones as May Day. She doesn`t add to the movie at all, and is to me somewhat annoying.
The infamous Bond one-liners are present in AVTAK. The good thing, I think is that Bond`s not the only one to joke, as Walken jokes as well. "This will hurt him more than me!".
All in all, AVTAK is very entertaining Bond adventure, which I like quite much. And though it doesn`t match up against the masterpieces like Goldfinger, The Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes Only, it`s at least quite as good as them.
HAS JAMES BOND FINALLY MET HIS MATCH! Answer: Does he ever! :)
