M rescinds Bond’s 00 status in Die Another Day after questioning his loyalty during his time held hostage in North Korea.

Q
Q
Played by John Cleese
Cleese officially takes over as MI6’s gadget man in Die Another Day, and has some memorable exchanges with 007. The best was when Q recommends Bond to “shoot through” the Aston Martin Vanquish manual – Bond does just that by tossing them in the air and having them shot by the car’s front target-seeking shotguns.

Jinx
Jinx
Played by Halle Berry
Jinx is the NSA’s leading woman in Die Another Day. Although tough and hard-nosed, Jinx finds herself in trouble on a couple of occasions, with Bond coming to the rescue. Jinx is first seen in the movie in an ‘homage’ scene wearing an orange bikini similar to that of Honey Ryder’s in Dr. No.

Henchmen
Zao
Zao
Played by Rick Yune
Zao is Gustav Grave’s thug in Die Another Day. His deformed, white-skinned face is a result of incomplete gene threapy. Zao permanently receives his “expensive acne” (as Jinx calls the diamonds in the skin of his face) as a result of the explosion of a briefcase containing diamonds that Bond detonates. After a thrilling car chase with Bond, Zao is killed by a falling crystal chandelier.

Mr. Kil
Mr. Kil
Played by Lawrence Makoare
Mr. Kil acts as one of Bond’s hurdles in Gustav Grave’s headquarters in Die Another Day. Mr. Kil eventually meets his end as a result of a laser slicing through the top of his head.

Villains
Colonel Moon
Colonel Moon
Played by Will Yun Lee
North Korean Colonel Moon uses gene therapy to change his identity to diamond tycoon Gustav Graves. Graves uses his alleged ‘hunger-fighting’ satellite Icarus as a weapon that North Korea can use to destroy South Korea.

Gustav Graves
Gustav Graves
Played by Toby Stephens
Moon’s switch to Graves not only alters his appearance, it also drastically changes his personality. This diamond mogul is arguably one of the cockiest villains in Bond history, and fits the definition of a megalomaniac.
