Casino Royale (2006)

MI6
Dryden
Dryden
Played by Malcolm Sinclair
Dryden is a corrupt Prague MI6 section chief killed by Bond (his second kill), making James officially achieve 00 status.

Carter
Carter
Played by Joseph Millson
Carter is a novice MI6 field operative that (poorly) assists Bond in tracking the terrorist bomb maker Mollaka in Madagascar. He fails at keeping his cover, pressing his finger against his earpiece, tripping and shooting his gun in the air, sending Bond on a memorable foot chase.

M
M
Played by Dame Judi Dench
M is terrified and angry to find that 007 has broken into her house after he wreaked havoc on his mission to investigate Obanno in Uganda. She pushes him to pursue Le Chiffre, the man behind the madness, and along the way tries to advise 007 as best as she can.

Villiers
Villiers
Played by Tobias Menzies
Villiers’ name is a nod to actor James Villiers, who played M’s Chief of Staff in For Your Eyes Only, and the automotive personality in the original novel. This Villiers is very tame, and new to the job. He pukes at the site of Severine’s dead body.

Rene Mathis
Rene Mathis
Played by Giancarlo Giannini
Bond incorrectly accused Mathis of coordinating with Le Chiffre about 007’s poker tell and subsequently had him arrested. Mathis was eventually cleared of wrongdoing, however, after it was determined Vesper was the traitor.

Allies
Felix Leiter
Felix Leiter
Played by Jeffrey Wright
Bond’s “brother from Langley&” is on a mission from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to monitor the high stakes poker game attended by Bond and Le Chiffre. After Bond loses his bankroll, Leiter stops him from attempting to kill Le Chiffre and buys him back into the tournament on the CIA’s bill. Leiter turns out to be a life saver for Bond at the tournament.

Girls
Vesper Lynd
Vesper Lynd
Played by Eva Green
Bond’s first real love interest after becoming a 00 agent, Vesper turns out to have both a positive and negative effect on his life. Their whirlwind romance together seems too good to be true, as she dies in a suicide/drowning and is revealed to have kept deep secrets on the mission. Their love would have a permanent effect on Bond’s views on women – proclaiming that he will never trust another as much since the “bitch is dead.”

Solange
Solange
Played by Caterina Murino
Bond meets this Italian beauty at his Bahama hotel while investigating the text message clue “ELLIPSIS” found on Mollaka’s cell phone. Solange’s boyfriend, Carlos, is the source of the message, and Bond quickly switches gears from lover to secret agent as soon as he leaves for Miami on a suspicious trip. Unfortunately for Solange, she “talked too much” and was found strangled in a hammock outside of the hotel.

Henchmen
Mollaka
Mollaka
Played by Sebastien Foucan
This elusive “bomb maker of the world’s terrorists” brings Bond to Madagascar where his movements are monitored at a mongoose/cobra fight. Realizing he is being followed, Mollaka leads Bond on a gravity-defying foot chase to a construction site and eventually to an embassy where he seeks sanctuary. Unfortunately for him, Bond kills him as 007 squares off with embassy officials to make an escape.

In real life, Sebastien Foucan is a pioneer in the sport of free running, or parkour, which explains his speed and agility in the chase scenes.

Alex Dimitrios
Alex Dimitrios
Played by Simon Abkarian
Dimitrios is a known associate of Le Chiffre, and Solange’s husband who bets and loses his Aston Martin DB5 to Bond in a poker game. After Dimitrios quickly heads to Miami, Bond abandons Solange and eventually catches up to him to learn more about his association with Le Chiffre. Before he can learn anything, Bond kills Dimitrios at the Body Worlds exhibit.

Carlos
Carlos
Played by Claudio Santamaria
This terrorist attempts to explode the new Skyfleet jet that will allow Le Chiffre to make a killing on short-selling the company’s stock. Unfortunately for Le Chiffre, Bond stops this from happening and kills Carlos in the process with his own bomb.

Adolph Gettler
Adolph Gettler
Played by Richard Sammel
Gettler is a Quantum agent who meets with Vesper to obtain ransom money. It is found out Vesper’s boyfriend was kidnapped by Quantum and Vesper was blackmailed as a result to double-cross Bond. He is eventually killed by a nail gun, ironically in the same eye he is missing.

Villains
Le Chiffre
Le Chiffre
Played by Mads Mikkelsen
Banker to the world’s terrorists, Le Chiffre attempts to pay off his debts by entering a high-stakes poker tournament. His scarred, cloudy left eye is his distinguishing characteristic, which weeps blood as a result of a malfunctioning tear duct that he assures to his opponents is “not sinister.”

Mr. White
Mr. White
Played by Jesper Christensen
Jesper Christensen plays Mr. White in 2006’s Casino Royale and acts as Le Chiffre’s superior. At the end of the movie, we find that Mr. White is actually an underling in a much larger criminal organization that will be central to the plot of Bond 22. Bond eventually tracks him down in Royale thanks to the foresight of the late Vesper Lynd.

Animals
Mongoose & Cobra Snake
Mongoose & Cobra Snake
In the opening sequence, Bond and a partner track terrorist Mollaka to a cobra/mongoose deathmatch, which eventually disbands because of gunshots.
