It's been a harrowing 5 years of waiting for James Bond fans too, Daniel.

Goldenrant #004: No Time To Die is going to suck

All signs point to a No Time To Die dud.

I hope I’m wrong. Prove me wrong. Please. From a fan’s perspective, the 25th James Bond movie No Time To Die (2020) – Daniel Craig’s fifth and his last outing as 007 – was plagued from pre-production to its current status as a hopeful blockbuster and worthy entry into the James Bond canon.

Production Issues

Five long years since the last movie. A change in director. A change in release date. A broken ankle for Daniel Craig. Could anything else go wrong? Well, yes, of course it could. And sure, an on-set injury can happen, but I can also see it as a bad omen. The writing is on the wall, so to speak. I guess at least frogs haven’t rained down on-set. They continue to film and haven’t given up, so that’s a good thing.

Goldenrant #003: Less Action, More Espionage & Intrigue in Bond 25

A highlight from Spectre (2015) didn't involve explosions or a chase, but was the mysterious Spectre meeting.

A highlight from Spectre (2015) didn’t involve explosions or a chase, but was the mysterious Spectre meeting.

Global interest and plausibility of a complex criminal conspiracy is peaking. Daily, the drip drip drip of information between Russia and Donald Trump’s campaign and Presidency is consistent and amazing. If it weren’t for real daily news broadcasts and headlines, it might seem we are stuck in an unbelievable episode of House of Cards or a (slightly muted) James Bond movie.

Politics and results of this real world scandal aside, the next James Bond movie (tentatively titled Bond 25) should reflect the times now more than ever and should partially retreat from following the traditional Bond movie formula. Simply put: it’s too good to pass up.

There, I said it. And yes, it is better than Pierce Brosnan’s first outing as 007 in GoldenEye (1995). * GASP *

Goldenrant #001: History & Frequency

Bond fans are weary too, 007.

Bond fans are weary too, 007.

The Daniel Craig introspective James Bond should be over. We know where he came from. We know how he got here. Now let’s have a true, formulaic James Bond movie in the Craig era.

Goldenrant #005: No Time To Die sucked

No Time To Die Theatrical Poster

To start things off, I called it two years ago: No Time To Die is going to suck

Fair warning – this review is full of spoilers and is interspersed with GIFs from previous Bond movies to convey my emotions and opinions.

Like most Bond fans, I was very excited to see No Time To Die. The two-plus year delay somewhat added to the hype but also annoyed me at the same time which was an odd feeling that I’ve never experienced for a new James Bond movie. Regardless, I saw it at the earliest possible showing.
