Does Denis Thatcher break the fourth wall in For Your Eyes Only?

At the end of For Your Eyes Only (1981), Bond is congratulated on a successful mission by Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher (played by well-known Thatcher impersonator Janet Brown), in a humorous scene where 007 is “preoccupied” with Melina and her parrot takes over on the important phone call.

The scene is slightly bizarre for a James Bond movie, and shows the Prime Minister with her husband Denis Thatcher (played by satirist John Wells) at home in the kitchen picking up the “red phone” to congratulate the secret agent on a job well done. As you can see in the above screenshot, it seems that Denis breaks the fourth wall by looking directly at the camera, chuckling, all while Margaret swats some food out of his hands.

Also – is it me or could Wells’ portrayal be mistaken for an older SNL alum Dana Carvey?
